My Story
If there’s one thing that has brought peace and solace to my life, it is painting with watercolors.
I grew up in Kalpakkam, a small township in Tamil Nadu, India, surrounded by a vibrant scientific community. My parents, Rita and Late Bidyut Saha, were both scientists who instilled in us discipline and curiosity. Like many children in India, my days were filled with after-school classes—Hindustani classical music for twelve years, Bharatanatyam, and nearly a decade of drawing and painting. What once felt routine has now become the very foundation of who I am as an artist. My sister Nandita, now a lifestyle and accessory designer (and my personal curator), and I were fortunate to grow up in a diverse, close-knit community. It was a protected yet enriching environment—simple, structured, and deeply fulfilling. Only when I stepped out into the “real world” did I realize how special that upbringing truly was. For many years, I worked as a Learning & Development professional, but something always felt missing. I found myself drawn back to those early creative influences—to the teachers and mentors who shaped me. When I returned to painting, everything changed. It gave me a renewed sense of purpose and identity, and since then, I have painted every single day. I remain deeply grateful to my first art teacher, Mrs. Ramani Purniah, who taught me how to hold a brush and built the foundation for my journey. Those early lessons were never just classes—they were stepping stones. I am also incredibly inspired by masters like Roland Lee and Fabio Cembranelli, whose work and guidance have influenced me over the years. Having followed them since 2007, it was a dream to eventually meet them and learn from them in person. I’m thankful to the friends who encouraged me to share my work, and to the many wonderful people who continue to support me through art shows and events. Your encouragement means everything. Above all, I am grateful for my husband Ameya and my daughter Diya, whose love and support make this journey possible. The world of art is vast—an ocean of possibilities. With hard work, practice, and determination, I truly believe dreams can take shape. |

Landscape Paintings Hero!
Roland Lee is not only one of the best landscape artists I know, but he is an amazing human being! Roland's paintings make me want to go to those places; he can make any ordinary scene look extraordinary. I try to attend his Masterclass every year and have been doing so since 2019. I learnt concepts like lights, shadows, soft & hard edges, negative painting, aerial & linear perspectives and more. What a wealth of knowledge I receive every time I take his class! Roland encouraged me to visit Zion National Park. I was in awe of Zion and took a lot of pictures for inspiration. Impressionistic Floral Paintings Hero!
Fabio Cembranelli is one of the finest impressionistic painters of flowers. I attended his workshop in September 2019 in Folsom, California. I was always terrified of loose watercolor techniques, but Fabio's lessons were made to look so simple and fast, and in no time I learnt to paint what always seemed complex to me - Roses! A Prized Possession - "DaintlyMade"
I religiously send every painting of mine to my sister Nandita in great anticipation of her feedback. As a designer, she has a perfect sense of perspective, including lights and shadows. Her critique has helped me improve my technique with every painting. Little did I know, that she was compiling all my paintings in the form of a beautiful book titled "DaintlyMade". One of my most prized possessions, as the Preface to this book was written by my mother Rita and Late father Bidyut Saha. Nandita also helped me design this website!
